University of Minnesota’s College of Veterinary Medicine
University of Minnesota’s College of Veterinary Medicine (VMC) is dedicated to improving the health and well-being of animals and people, while providing high-quality education, conducting cutting-edge research, and delivering innovative veterinary services.
VMC required a dashboard solution that gave them the ability to graphically display the UVIS system data, being captured in their Oracle database, in an easy-to-read format. They also needed a system with role-based security which would enable management teams and directors to have individual logins to view pertinent information.
iDashboards holds people accountable in an incredibly timely manner. We are continuing to find new ways to use it.
Due to its intuitive interface and role-based permissions, VMC chose iDashboards. With the use of iDashboards, they have been able to develop custom dashboards for revenue, visits, medical records, appointments, inpatient status, client appointments, and much more.
VMC has been able to implement dashboards in their diagnostic lab to monitor testing, quality control, grant submissions, acceptance rates, and testing turnaround time. Their development team also uses dashboards for donor prospects and sends real-time alerts for high donor visits and new appointments to the direct managers.
Other student affairs dashboards allow the Associate Dean to track student competency and faculty performance. The student competency dashboard reveals student performance, which provides the Associate Dean a method to determine at-risk students and implement early intervention. The dashboards also match student skill sets with potential specialists. The faculty dashboards allow the Associate Dean to monitor faculty grade turnaround time and student feedback to ensure students are receiving the best education possible.
VMC has been using iDashboards for a number of years and has discovered a budget savings of $2 million per year. With iDashboards innovative, easy-to-use dashboards, VMC continues to find additional ways to implement dashboards in their Veterinary Medicine College to increase financial support and better their students’ experience.
