Michigan Humane Society
The Michigan Humane Society (MHS) has been protecting the welfare of animals since its inception in 1877 (then known as the Michigan Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals). Today, they provide a wide variety of services including: animal sheltering and placement; lost and found; veterinary services; animal cruelty investigation and emergency rescue; humane education; legislative advocacy; pet behavior and more. They also provide helpful handouts on a variety of topics including pet health and safety, behavior and training, and wildlife issues.
The Michigan Humane Society did a lot of manual intervention with their reporting prior to using iDashboards. This greatly increased their risk of making an error, which could lead to an animal staying in the shelter longer. The longer an animal is there, the more likely it is that it will contract a disease and the less likely it is that they will find a good home. They also didn’t have a centralized system, so much of the reporting was occurring out in their various business lines.
“[iDashboards] is incredibly user friendly. It’s been essentially life-changing for me in my role.”

MHS wanted to centralize reporting and automate their manual processes so they could send dashboards and reports to their business lines faster. As a non-profit, they have limited resources and need to make quick, informed, and data-driven decisions. They found iDashboards to fit this need, and were impressed by the user-friendliness of the tool. Since implementing iDashboards, it has been much easier and faster to get dashboards out to their business lines. The dashboards they have created provide the trust, time, and accurate data they need to support their operations.
MHS uses iDashboards to automate their data collection and create shareable, interactive dashboards. Their dashboards provide a unique view into the lifecycle of the animals in their care, and have led to measurable improvements in animal outcomes. All of their data and metrics are at the forefront, so they are able to locate and remove any bottlenecks immediately, reducing the amount of time an animal is in their care before getting adopted into a new home.
